As of 2021, trunk zones are used when calculating the following parcels: valuable bookpost, registered and valuable letters and bookposts of class 1.
Note. There is no drop-off of these parcels in Baikonur, only pick-up.
There are 5 trunk zones:
1st - up to 600 km
2nd - 601 - 2000 km
3rd - 2001 - 5000 km
4th - 5001 - 8000 km
5th - over 8000 km
Trunk zones are used in the region-region matrix and are traditionally defined as the distance by railway between regional centers. Therefore, the trunk zone does not depend on the actual delivery distance and does not change within the region.
For class 1 shipments, a simplified gradation is applied: up to 2000 km (in fact, zones 1 and 2) and over 2000 km (in fact, zones 3, 4 and 5).
